Notes: 

Gravelot's design is preparatory for a vignette enlivening the marquis de La Salle's comedy, "Histoire de Sophie Francourt" (Paris : Merlin, 1768; v. II, p. 102). A man and his young daughter are shown rushing into one another's arms. and signed at lower right The engraving after this drawing for the four-act comedy was executed by Jean Jacques Andre le Veau (1729-1786).

Inscription:
