Notes:

An abstract painter in the colorist tradition of Josef Albers and Ellsworth Kelly, Frecon has developed a geometric style characterized by asymmetrical forms and a palette ranging from earth red to vibrant orange and cobalt. In addition to large oils on canvas she creates small watercolors of great subtlety and nuances, such as the present one. Paying meticulous attention to the materiality of the work, Frecon grinds her own pigments and applies them on old Indian ledger sheets, whose irregular edges and folds become an intrinsic part of the composition. Frecon's work has the quiet intensity of medieval illuminated manuscripts or Tantric devotional paintings.
