Drawing for an advertisement promoting the purchase of products produced in the British Empire, part of a government campaign devised by the Empire Marketing Board of Great Britain.
Caption continues: Everything in its proper place, of course. We want beef in the larder, & the Colonial wants a piano in the drawing room. We can make more pianos than we want, & the Colonial can raise more beef. A British ship takes out a piano & brings back a cow - Cargo both ways - so lower freights. Result: More employment, prosperity & content in the Colonies & at Home. Moral: BUY EMPIRE GOODS.
