Summary:

Watercolor drawing shows the bearded figure of the poet Omar Khayyam seated at a table, holding a wineglass in one hand and resting his head in the other; in front of him lies a quill pen and the wine-stained leaves of a manuscript; a carafe lies overturned on the table, further spilling wine across the poet's work. At his side stands a young woman, holding a rose to her face and looking down at the seated figure, while a portly man stands in the background, smiling and gesturing to the figures in the foreground. Caption in pen and ink below the image, integral to the published design, reads, "Omar Khayyam."
