Notes:

An influential proponent of geometric abstraction in the United States in the 1930s, Bugoyne Diller was the first American artist to adopt the tenets of Mondrianʼs Neoplasticism. His work can be divided into three visual themes, which he explored simultaneously, each theme corresponding to a different type of relationships between planes, lines, and colors. The present study belongs to the third theme, in which Diller was influenced by the dynamism of Mondrianʼs late works, such as Victory Boogie-Woogie.
