One of 86 portrait sketches of musicians including the likenesses of most of the leading composers, conductors, and instrumentalists of the first half of the twentieth century. All were done from life, and many appeared in Musical America.
Inscription:
Inscribed by the artist in pencil at upper right, "Ferruccio Busoni", and signed at lower right "Dolbin"; at lower left in pencil in another hand, "B.F. Dolbin".
Provenance:
Mrs. Ellen Dolbin (d. 1974), the artist's widow.
