Notes
This drawing is a study for plates XXXVII (in which the figure appears only in outline) and XXXVIII of Piazzetta's Studi di pittura. Piazzetta's influence on Giambattista Tiepolo is apparent in such sheets by the younger artist as the monumental study of a male nude posed as Hercules (inv. no. 1981.108), in the Morgan's collection. --Exhibition Label, from "Tiepolo, Guardi, and Their World: Eighteenth-Century Venetian Drawings"
