Unidentified Italian collector (formerly associated with the so-called Borghese albums), probably a sixteenth-century Venetian, now tentatively identified as Zaccaria Sagredo (Lugt S. 2103a); Germain Seligman, New York (1893-1978); His gift in memory of W. R. Valentiner; sale, New York, Sotheby's, 27 January 1999, lot 64 (as North Italian School, late 16th Century).
