Notes
James Pradier (1790-1852), the Swiss-born sculptor was a friend of Delaroche. He attended drawing classes in Geneva before leaving to study in Paris where he registered at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and won the prix de Rome in 1813. On his return from Italy he showed frequently at the Salon.
