This drawing was made after the figure of David in Cadmus's 1971 painting "Study for a David and Goliath." Cadmus's longtime model, Jon Anderson, who posed as David in the original composition, is seen here on a bright blue ground. In later years in particular, Cadmus often made drawings on colored papers.
