Notes
This drawing and "Mt. Aeta (from Lamia), Greece" (2003.36) are two sheets from a set of two hundred illustrations to Tennyson's poems. After Lear's death, a limited edition of three poems and twenty-two illustrations was published with the signature of the poet. Lear presented the drawings to Tennyson, and they remained with the Tennyson papers until 1980.
