Blind stamp at lower right, a crowned cypher (not in Lugt), possibly a variation of the Coccapani arms; in which case: Sigismondo and Giovanni Coccapani, Florence; by descent to Giovanni Coccapani's son, Regolo Silverio Coccapani, Florence; probably dispersed with the rest of the Coccapani collection in the third quarter of the seventeenth century; an unidentified collector's mark, Cini, within an armorial surround (not in Lugt); Giuseppe Vallardi (Lugt 1223); Carlo Prayer, Milan (Lugt 2044); Paul Beneux, his mark at lower left; acquired from Trinity Fine Art Ltd., London.
