On verso, at upper left, in graphite, "1004"; somewhat below, "287"; at lower left corner, "Pe..."; at lower right, "6/2" ["2" subscript], and below, "L. Cranach"; at lower left, in Esdaile's hand, in brown ink, "Bot at Daulby Sale-Aug. 16 1799 / Lot 6-2"; in left corner, in another hand, in brown ink, "Lucas Craane".
