Notes
This album contains 139 designs for parterres, dating from about 1670. The drawings comprise 119 relatively small designs, and twenty of a larger size (mostly colored). They are distinctly in Le Nôtre's manner. Le Nôtre designed parterres for the garden of Frédéric Maurice Duc de Bouillon, father of the Duchess, one of the designs ("Parterre de l'Hotel de Boüillon du dessin de Monsieur le Nautre") being engraved in "Architecture à la Mode" published by Mariette. Two of the drawings bear the ducal arms of Bavaria, two others those of the Duchess, born Mauritia Febronia de la Tour, who married Maximilian Philip Duke of Bavaria in 1668. She died in 1706.
Some drawings folded.
