Inscription: 

Inscribed in pen and brown ink along bottom edge, possibly in a seventeenth century hand, "Matthias Kager"; inscribed by a later hand on verso at lower left, ""Matthaeus Kager / Geb. 1566 / -1634 / zu Augsburg / [...] ein Mädchen im Gefängniss, / aussen ein Kampf zwischen 2 Reitern. Feder u[nd] Tusche u[nd] / weiss gehöht unten bez[eichnet] Matthias Kager [...] 5'' 6'' [...]".
