Inscribed in pen and brown ink at lower left, "Cano"; in black chalk at lower edge beneath Virgin, "CANO".
Watermark: Three stacked circles surmounted by a small crown; cross in top circle with griffons on each side, possibly "W" in middle circle, letter "B" in bottom circle. Damages in paper make watermark hard to read.
