Sheet from a sketchbook probably made near New Bedford, Massachusetts, before the artist came to New York in 1879. Another sheet from the same sketchbook showing the same mill is now in the collection of the Princeton Art Museum. Both drawings may have some relation to the artist's painting "The Windmill", executed ca. 1880, now in the Guennol Collection.
