Pen and brown ink and wash, over graphite, with large paper collage element added, on paper. Adhered overall to old paper mount, 15 1/16 x 19 3/4 inche ( 383 x 501 mm).

Watermark: none visible in raking light.
The design of the baldachin with the congregation of clerics has been cut out from an earlier sheet and combined with a later drawing of the interior of the church.
The model was in place between 1628 and 1631.

Inscription: 

Inscribed by Esdaile in pen and brown ink on recto of mount, "Lorenzo Bernini"; signed and dated by him on verso, "W. Esdaile 1816".
Inscribed in pen and brown ink on railing of stairway to crypt, "C. Bernin. E. Rom".
