Inscribed on the verso, in graphite: at lower right, "golfo di Napoli dalla Salita pietra / a Pimonte"; below this, in another hand, "golfo di Napoli dalla Salita pietra folane a Piemonta"; at upper left (upside down), "Vanvitelli"; below this, in the hand of János Scholz, "ex Fatio / ph fall 1965 / from Marmier / Genève 1965".
Watermark: Sun with face. Eyes, nose, mouth, chin delinated. Sun has alternating curved and straight rays.
Watermark: Countermark: Letters "FJ". Chain line between the letters.
