The drawing is connected with Adriaen van Ostade's painting of the subject, dating ca. 1670, in the British Royal collection at Buckingham Palace, London. Only the figures in the drawing may be by van Ostade, the rest of the drawing may have been completed by Cornelis Dusart (1660-1704), who took over the contents of his master's studio following his death in 1685.
Inscribed with a false monogram at lower right, in brown ink, "AV.(in ligature)o".
Watermark: Crowned double-headed eagle around shield with bear motif. (similar to Churchill, nos. 440-41: 1652-81).
