Inscribed, signed, and dated by the artist on the verso, at lower left, in brown ink, "Buÿten Haarlem / Tuschen Bloemendaal / en overveen / J. Cats fec 1786"; and at upper center, in another hand, in graphite, "J. Cats / W 150 5".
