On the verso, signed, dated, and inscribed by the artist, at lower left, in brown ink, "J: Cats Ao[o in superscript] 1769, / Te Castricom, ut(?) de Gedagten."; inscribed below this, by Goll van Franckenstein, in brown ink, "N 1473"; at center left, in graphite, "2195"; and at upper left, also in graphite, "1667".
Watermark: Fleur-de-lis within a shield over 4, fragment.
