Notes:

Watermark: fragment of a coat of arms surmounted by a crown within a circle.
The traditional identification of the subject as Mlle Duthé, the famous courtesan who recorded her adventures for posterity in "Mémoires secrets", is not plausible.

Inscription:

Inscribed on verso at lower center in graphite, "dessin J.(?) S. Aubin acheté à [illegible]".
