Watermark: fragment of a coat of arms surmounted by a crown within a circle.
The traditional identification of the subject as Mlle Duthé, the famous courtesan who recorded her adventures for posterity in "Mémoires secrets", is not plausible.

Inscribed on verso at lower center in graphite, "dessin J.(?) S. Aubin acheté à [illegible]".
