Watermark: none visible through lining.
This drawing is a study for the painting "The Union of Painting and Drawing", executed in 1746, which disappeared in 1767 and was recovered in 1981 in the Nahmani collection. It was engraved by Pelletier in 1750 for the Duc de Gesvres.

Signed in pen and brown ink, at lower right, "C. Natoire".
