Preparatory studies for the painting "Le Déjeuner de jambon", which, with its companion piece "Le Déjeuner d'huîtres" by Jean-François de Troy (1679-1752), was commissioned by Louis XV in 1735 for the dining room of the petits-appartements at Versailles. Both are now in the Musée Condé, Chantilly.
