              This picturesque landscape is an invented view pieced together from nature studies. Other examples can be seen (such as "Landscape with Cottage"). Weimar, Schlock Museum KK 8595, repr. in "From Callot to Greuze", no. 99 and "Farm in a Landscape with Three Figures", Lexington, University of Kentucky Art Museum, fig. 1). Another similar drawing is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art ("Farmyard", 1978.411.1; repr. in Bean and Turcic, no. 11).
