The French refer to the seventeenth century as the Grand Siècle, or the Great Century. Under the rule of Louis XIII and Louis XIV, the period saw a dramatic increase in French political and military power, the maturation of French courtly life at Versailles, and an unparalleled flourishing of the arts.

This exhibition showcases Cy Twombly's monumental painting Treatise on the Veil (Second Version), executed in Rome in 1970, and its related drawings, all from the Menil Collection in Houston.

A Love Affair with Line: Drawings by Al Hirschfeld was a retrospective exhibition celebrating the draftsman's extraordinary career. Hirschfeld began depicting theater subjects in the mid-1920s and has chronicled generations of Broadway performers, playwrights, producers, and critics. He also has drawn inspiration from dance, film, and television, as well as from the landmarks of New York. Many of his distinctive drawings were first published in The New York Times during his more than sixty-year association with the paper.

Presenting over one hundred works that underscore the great scope of the Morgan's collecting interests, the exhibition included old master and modern drawings, literary and musical manuscripts, illuminated texts, and rare printed books and bindings.
