The exhibition features approximately ninety highly influential texts and outstanding works of art, providing a compelling overview of ideas championed by the Romantics and also implemented by them in private estates and public parks in Europe and the United States, notably New York's Central Park.

This exhibition features the greatest works on paper by the artists in the Morgan's collection, as well as a few key loans from local collections.

The exhibition Far and Away: Drawings from the Clement C. Moore Collection, on view upstairs, celebrates the promised gift of works to the Morgan from one of the preeminent private collections of Dutch drawings in America.

A Love Affair with Line: Drawings by Al Hirschfeld was a retrospective exhibition celebrating the draftsman's extraordinary career. Hirschfeld began depicting theater subjects in the mid-1920s and has chronicled generations of Broadway performers, playwrights, producers, and critics. He also has drawn inspiration from dance, film, and television, as well as from the landmarks of New York. Many of his distinctive drawings were first published in The New York Times during his more than sixty-year association with the paper.

This exhibition explores the ways in which Renoir used paper to test ideas, plan compositions, and interpret both landscape and the human figure.

Building on the Morgan’s tradition of presenting to the American public distinguished works from outstanding institutions abroad , Masterworks from Dresden: Van Eyck to Mondrian will focus on the exceptional drawing collection of Kupferstich-Kabinett, Dresden.

In the spring of 2019 Jayne Wrightsman bequeathed to the Morgan an exceptional collection of books bound for the highest echelons of 18th-century French society.
