Figure crouching before table

between 2900 B.C. and 2400 B.C.
serpentine
30 x 11.5 mm
Morgan Seal 1107
Provenance:
Acquired by Pierpont Morgan sometime between 1885 and 1908.
Notes:

"The unusual height of this seal, as well as the lower border of triangles, might suggest contemporaneity with Kassite design, though the motif of a figure before an offering table would correspond rather than with the themes of such Assyrian cylinders as 677. The crouching position of the human figure is unparalleled in Mesopotamian designs."--Porada, CANES, p. 157
Damaged cylinder, with only lower half preserved.
