Morgan Seal 834
Provenance:
Acquired by Pierpont Morgan sometime between 1885 and 1908.
Notes:
"Though Greek soldiers appear in the battle scene of 833, the arrangement of the figures in a row and their rigid postures reflect Mesopotamian tradition rather than Greek influence. In 834, on the other hand, the free-striding soldier is gracefully drawn in a Greek manner. Furthermore, the figures of the scene move against the spacious background common in Greek art."--Porada, CANES, p. 104
