Landscape with a White Fence
17th century
Etching with India ink wash, on Japanese paper.
90 x 161 mm
RvR 336
Provenance:
Ambroise Firmin-Didot (1790-1876), Paris; George W. Vanderbilt (1862-1914); from whom purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan in 1905.
Notes:

Watermark: None.
Etching not by Rembrandt - cf. Philips Koninck, Hollstein 3. (White and Boon)
Two impressions in the British Museum are signed in ink "P. Ko", one of them being dated 1659. Though very like Pieter de With style, there is probably more reason to accept the authority of old signatures, and attribute to Philips Koninck. (Hind)
