Poetry Unbound: Pádraig Ó Tuama and Amanda Quaid in Conversation

Monday, May 11, 2026, 6–7 PM
Tickets
$25; $20 for Morgan Members

Join Pádraig Ó Tuama, host of Poetry Unbound from On Being Studios, in conversation with Amanda Quaid about her debut collection, No Obvious Distress, a powerful memoir-in-verse, and a tender, witty and universal collection that asks how we can continue to live and love in times of uncertainty.

After working in theater for most of her life, Amanda Quaid began writing poetry in 2023 as a way to work creatively with illness. That same year, her poem “Patient and Daughter Appear Closely Bonded” was awarded the Bridport Prize. Her debut collection, No Obvious Distress is out now with John Murray Press and was named one of the Best Books of 2025 by The Independent. She was raised in New York City, where she works as a dialect coach and lives with her husband and daughter.

Pádraig Ó Tuama is a poet with interests in conflict, language and religion. He presents Poetry Unbound from On Being Studios, and has published two anthologies (2022, 2025, both with WW Norton) from that podcast. In early 2025 Copper Canyon Press published Kitchen Hymns, his fourth poetry collection and Love Between Men is forthcoming later in 2026. A freelance artist, one of Ó Tuama’s projects is poet in residence with the Cooperation and Conflict Resolution Center at Columbia University. He will take up a role as faculty at Yale Divinity School as a Professor in the practice of Spirituality in the Autumn of 2026.

Doors to the museum will open 30 minutes before the program begins.
