Hub New Music: Missing Words

Missing Words explores the relationship between the written word and music through a collection of pieces by contemporary composers. The performance blends the experience of a concert with a poetry reading.

Christopher Cerrone, New Addresses. A three movement work inspired by Kenneth    Koch’s book of poetry of the same title.

Du-Yun, Dreams-bend. A surreal and fantastical text written by the composer.
Eric Nathan, Missing Words VI. Inspired by Ben Schott’s Schottenfreude.

Laura Kaminsky, Uncover. Inspired by the Morgan’s first edition of The Book of American Negro Poetry, edited by James W. Johnson in a personally inscribed version to George Gershwin.

Nina C. Young, new work in collaboration with poet Rosie Stockton.

This concert will take place in the Morgan's Gilder Lehrman Hall. In compliance with city guidelines, museum visitors 12 and older must show proof of at least one shot of a Covid-19 vaccine approved for emergency use by the FDA or the World Health Organization. Click here for more information about our visitor guidelines and safety protocols.
