Enjoy a midday interlude with the Morgan’s noontime recitals. In partnership with Young Concert Artists, this concert showcases a new generation of musicians.
Described as “a star on the rise” by The Violin Channel, Australian cellist Benett Tsai presents a program of folk and Romantic works. Tsai will be accompanied by pianist Noreen Polera.

Benett Tsai is an Australian cellist praised for his “electrifying…flawless freshness” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) and “charismatic, heartfelt playing” (Sydney Arts Guide). Named a VC Artist in The Violin Channel, he gained international recognition as a top prizewinner at the 2022 Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann in Berlin. In 2023, he won the YCA Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, becoming a YCA Jacobs Fellow and receiving the Stern Young Artist Award. As a soloist, Tsai has collaborated with the Berlin Radio Symphony, Queensland Symphony, Sinfonia Lahti, Kammerphilharmonie Metamorphosen Berlin, Maryland Symphony, and Anchorage Symphony. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, Verbier Festival, and Lincoln Center, City Recital Hall (Sydney), and has collaborated with renowned artists including Emanuel Ax and Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
This concert takes place in Gilder Lehrman Hall on the Ground Floor. Doors to the Hall will open 30 minutes before the concert begins.
