Print shows Edmund Burke, at right, unsuccessfully soliciting the dons of Oxford for a degree, presenting, as qualifications, his books, his patron William Pitt, and the dagger (shown lying on the floor in the foreground) he used to such dramatic effect during his speech in the House of Commons on December 28, 1792.
