Touched India paper proof of a wood engraving by Swain after an illustrated initial by W. Small for an unidentified publication.
Inscriptions/Markings
Proof touched with red and inscribed with the artist's instructions to the engraver: Lighten very delicately where I have masked with red; instructions are illustrated with a pencil sketch of the woman's face, intended to show the nature of the changes desired, in the margin at right.
