Title from Ray.
Proof of a wood engraving by Swain after an illustration by Frederick Sandys for the poem of the same title by Algernon Charles Swinburne and originally intended for publication in Once a week in 1867; the design was, however, ultimately rejected by the editor of that periodical and the wood engraving remained unpublished until its appearance in The Century Guild Hobby horse in 1888.
