Summary:

Print shows a rich farmer's parlour or drawing-room where "Betty", wearing a high-waisted dress with short sleeves, sits playing and singing at a square piano. The farmer and his wife stand by the piano while a younger girl stands by the piano and sings with a pained expression. Three elderly ladies, one of whom has fallen asleep, sit at a card-table, on which are spread drawings or embroidery by 'B. Giles'. A son of the house sits with his back to the windows, in profile to the left, his hands folded, ill at ease in frilled shirt, and powdered hair. A small foot-boy enters from the right with a decanter and glasses on a salver and a cake-basket on his arm, the cakes falling out. A spaniel sits dejectedly in the foreground.
