Inscribed by the artist as follows: along upper edge, "There are too many forms like these thro all the Plate"; at right, "Stone Bridge / Bridge of Boats / Town lighter / the Bridges"; along lower edge, "Wash (?) along the sky and Town which gives the appearance of stopped out lights / They must be all round on left (?) hand (?) (some into ...[illegible] houses others into Trees) all...[illegible] / ...[illegible] grey markings (?) on the sky softened down (?)... / NB they must (?)...[illegible] the Plate".
