Inscriptions/Markings
Author's inscription in ink on flyleaf: For Eric Alport, oldest, most faithful, and most tender of friends, these poems which are nearly as old as our friendship, "Distance and days are stronger than death," I once wrote, concluding: "We may meet both strangers." I doubt it, of you and me: for all others, my poem still applies. Affectionately, [signed] Edouard, P.S. I might add a lot more to this dedication. But words are inadequate and you know; author's corrections throughout the body of the text.
