"Entered in the Ithaca postoffice as Pretty Punk Matter"--Front wrapper.
According to accompanying bookseller's description by Eldon P. Steeves for The Morgan Library and Museum, a parody on the Cornell Era published by the Cornell Widow for Spring Day 1908. Kenneth Roberts, the editor in chief of the Cornell Widow, exercised direct control over all literary and artistic matters, including parodies executed by the Widow. The Cornell Era and Cornell Sun were seen as direct threats to the Widow. Each year from 1906 onward, The Widow issued parodies on Spring Day, with the editor in chief taking the major role, beginning with Roberts' publication of the Cornell Deadly Sin.
