"This, the first book to be published by the book selling firm of CASANOVA, in the City of Milwaukee, in the year [1932] (a year of great world economic depression) is at last compelted after many trials and tribulations. The edition is strictly limited to 525 numbered copies, all to be sold (we hope) save 25 copies reserved for ungrateful critics and its two authors, for $3.00 a copy. The designer is Paul Romaine, who is obviously very unlike Aldus or Bodoni, but who is very young and has many years to correct the glaring defects herein of composition. With patience, bear with me as I number your copy. --Samarkand, 1931" --Colophon.
