Library has copy no. 6 of 60 hardbound copies, signed by the author, with a drawing in watercolor and crayon by the author mounted as frontispiece, with caption inscribed in ink, "Emerging as from an enlightened singleness", signed with the Duncan's initials (3rd state as described by Bertholf).
Text printed on white wove Shogun paper watermarked "Japan"; 5 illustrations by the author printed on light yellow-brown rice paper in deep brown or reddish-orange ink; hand colored illustration mounted as frontispiece.
Three states have been noted by Bertholf: 1) with a printing error on 4th page of preface, lines 30-31, "Inca- able"; 2) printing error corrected to "Incap- able"; 3) additional drawing (watercolor, approximately 12 x 15 cm) mounted on page [10], with handwritten title and the author's initials below, 15 copies. Contrary to the attribution on the colophon, the hardbound copies were bound by Arno Werner in Pittsfield, Massachusetts (see Bertholf, page 44).
