The title does not appear on covers or as running title, which is "Master Humphrey's Clock", nor does it appear as a heading in nos. 5, 6, 7, 9.
Nos. 46-88 (Feb. 13 to Nov. 27, 1841) contain the first printing of Barnaby Rudge, in the original parts, with illus. by G. Cattermole & H.K. Brown. Title appears as subtitle on covers and as running title in the numbers.
Issued in 88 weekly numbers from April 4, 1840, to Nov. 27, 1841, in numbered and dated wrappers and with advertising matter. First and last leaves of each gathering serve as wrappers. Title pages and preliminaries for 3 vols. appear in nos. 26, 52, and 88. (Also issued in 20 monthly parts and 3 v. set.).
Illustrated with wood engraved frontispieces, 168 wood engraved vignettes, and 24 wood engraved initials after Cattermole and H.K. Browne; with one illustration each by S.
