Inscriptions/Markings
"Celui qui escript cette l[ett]re est tout a vous et veult tel estre" and rondeau by Guillaume Crétin ("Puis huit vingts ans cinq Rois passant ce cours...") inscribed on front flyleaf. Inscription about Bacchus and Ceres on verso of first flyleaf reads: "Plus tost que tard sur terre..." All but Crétin inscription are repeated in fragmentary form inside lower cover and on verso of lower flyleaf. "Maistre Jehan le maire de belges" inscription on third leaf. Greek inscriptions inside upper and lower covers unidentified. Inscriptions and drawings on verso of lower flyleaf in multiple hands: "A moy et a mes amys" ; "Sans en au[?]it aucun allegement" ; "Souffrist m[?] pass[?]" (torn page); "Il honor d[i] dio et d[?] la sua gloriosa madre fro [sap?]" (final word obscured); "Pater in manus tuas commendo spiritum meu[m]" ; "Deus meus ut quid me derelisti" ; "Santhus" ; "Saulte mon amy / Saulte san[?]". Inscriptions inside lower cover: "anastasius anastasium Melchiades prohibuit gregorius" ; "Robertet mon doulc ainez." Very sparse contemporary annotations in the form of crosses and marks in margins.
