Possibly written by John Newbery and revised by Oliver Goldsmith (DNB XXII, p. 94); although S. Roscoe says that this work is "to be distinguished from the Art of Poetry vols. in the Circle of the Sciences" (Newbery, J16A), comparison of the texts reveals that the 1762 Art of poetry is an expanded version of: Poetry made familiar and easy ... (first published in l746 with title: Art of poetry made easy, vol. 7 in The circle of the sciences).
