PML 81707
Creator
Johnson, R. (Richard), 1733 or 4-1793.
Published
London : Printed and sold by Darton and Harvey, Gracechurch-Street, 1806.
Notes
"This little book ... is written on the plan of the justly-celebrated Mad. le Prince de Beaumont [perhaps copied from that author's works, cf. Weedon 82]" -- P. [iii]-iv.
At foot of t.p.: Price sixpence.
Attributed to Richard Johnson: first published in 1771 by T. Carnan, and rewritten by Johnson in 1776 (Weedon, M.J.P. Richard Johnson, no. 82); this appears to be the second version, as the secular tales of which the earlier edition consists have been replaced with stories from the Old Testament. However, five of the eleven illustrations are printed from the blocks used in the 1771 Carnan edition (PML 81705).
