"The splendid shilling" is a burlesque in Miltonic style (p. [43]-50); "Cyder" is in imitation of Virgil's Georgica (p. [99]-176) and concerns both the making of cider and the cultivation of apple orchards.
"Blenheim" (p. [53]-78) was written as a Tory counterpart to "The campaign" of Addison; the plate preceding the poem contains a portrait medallion of Queen Anne.
