Provenance
Unidentified German provenance inscriptions inside front and rear covers: "Dieses Biebel Buch gehort dem Friderich [?]ribel in A[?]bach," 18th century (front board) and "Diese Bibel gehort Sch[??] A Wagner in Kongen," 19th century (rear board).
Binding
German binding of heavy silver repoussé covers (ca. 1730-1750) over wooden boards. In the center of the upper cover is a representation of the Last Supper; above and on sides female figures emblematic of autumn lettered Autumnus (at top); below, emblematic figures of winter, labeled Hyems. In the center of the lower cover, representations of the Road to Calvary, with the same autumn and winter figures as on the upper cover. On the spine, the armorial for the Duchy of Württemberg (1495-1803), in which Tübingen is located. No hallmarks on silver covers.
