"The letters, all lowercase, are drawn in red ink outline, then filled in with india ink. Many modifications of the Jenson face have been made, most generally in the addition of thicker serifs." (Needham, William Morris and the Art of the Book, no. 71D, p. 123).
The fragmented text reads: sua ruina cipare uno / che lementi degli huomin / eglino possino rimunerar / do che epremii e sono alle u / fficulta non e appresso ed / iamo quegli premii.
The last word of the text - premii - appears only in red outline.
